Location of the George Morton site, as illustrated on the 1867 Bird's Eye View of Peoria, Illinois. By this date, the site had been incorporated into the workings of a local lumberyard, and all earlier structures had been demolished.
Detail of the Edwards House at Edwards Station, Peoria County, Illinois. Simple combination log and frame structures as these were probably associated with the George Morton Site during the 1840s and 1850s.

The two plates and two saucers pictured here were recovered from Feature 11, a circa 1860s privy pit. These four pieces of tableware had an impressed mark that read "American Pottery Co. / Peoria, Ills." The cup and saucer at the top of the image, although unmarked, may also have been manufactured by this local firm. The glaze and paste characteristics of this cup and saucer are somewhat unusual--as if they represent under-fired and/or seconds from a pottery manufactory.
