This Eagle whiskey flask, Aromatic Schnapps bitters bottle, and small "tumblers," or shot glasses, document the consumption of hard liquor by the inhabitants of the Corneau house at mid-century (circa 1855-65).
This image of the Corneua Site (Lot 16) and the Sprigg Site (Lot 15) site plans illustrates the various block excavations conducted on these properties in 1997-98 by Fever River Research. The Corneau Site Block I exposed the house foundations and immediate inner yard, whereas the Block II investigations exposed the limited remains of the carriage house, or urban barn, and Block III exposed the remains of the privy.
One of the more interesting pieces of tableware recovered from the privy pit was this applique decorated, handled, whiteware cup. The four motifs on this cup document the four seasons.
This 1960s photograph depicts the Corneau house being moved to the Carrigan lot north of the Lincoln Home (reproduced from Richard Hagen slides, Lincoln Home National Historic Site).
